SELLATAN® PA liq Ecological Pickle Acid for Low Salt Pickling

In various parts of the tanning world the demand for reduced salt in tannery waste water has grown steadily. TFL responded by working with several major tanneries in the Arzignano area, and as a result SELLATAN® PA liq was developed as part of a complete pickling, tanning and basifying system which allows a substantial reduction in the salt used in pickling.

For wet-blue production the system also enables the tanner to use reduced amounts of chrome tanning and basifying agents, without changing the character of the final article. The result is a reduction of about half of the chloride, a third of the sulphate and half of the chromium in the spent tanning and final washing floats.
A halving of the salt used in the pickle of chrome-free, aldehyde tanning is also possible.

SELLATAN® PA liq is based on modified polysulphonic acids and is a further development of the well known SELLATAN® P liq, which has been sold successfully for many years as a non-swelling pickle acid. The new version also has some tanning effect and therefore allows pickling to be carried out at a few degrees higher than normal. Importantly, it provides a faster and more uniform penetration of subsequently applied tanning agents and, it noticeably improves tensile strength.

As a part of the TFL ECO Solution, the product contains no potentially harmful substances, thereby making it suitable for the TFL White Line? System.
